21:1主は、さきに言われたようにサラを顧み、告げられたようにサラに行われた。	21:1 And Jehovah visited Sarah as he had said, and Jehovah did unto Sarah as he had spoken.	א וַיהוָה פָּקַד אֶת-שָׂרָה, כַּאֲשֶׁר אָמָר; וַיַּעַשׂ יְהוָה לְשָׂרָה, כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֵּר.
21:2サラはみごもり、神がアブラハムに告げられた時になって、年老いたアブラハムに男の子を産んだ。	21:2 And Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.	ב וַתַּהַר וַתֵּלֶד שָׂרָה לְאַבְרָהָם בֵּן, לִזְקֻנָיו, לַמּוֹעֵד, אֲשֶׁר-דִּבֶּר אֹתוֹ אֱלֹהִים.
21:3アブラハムは生れた子、サラが産んだ男の子の名をイサクと名づけた。	21:3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.	ג וַיִּקְרָא אַבְרָהָם אֶת-שֶׁם-בְּנוֹ הַנּוֹלַד-לוֹ, אֲשֶׁר-יָלְדָה-לּוֹ שָׂרָה--יִצְחָק.
21:4アブラハムは神が命じられたように八日目にその子イサクに割礼を施した。	21:4 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.	ד וַיָּמָל אַבְרָהָם אֶת-יִצְחָק בְּנוֹ, בֶּן-שְׁמֹנַת יָמִים, כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה אֹתוֹ, אֱלֹהִים.
21:5アブラハムはその子イサクが生れた時百歳であった。	21:5 And Abraham was a hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.	ה וְאַבְרָהָם, בֶּן-מְאַת שָׁנָה, בְּהִוָּלֶד לוֹ, אֵת יִצְחָק בְּנוֹ.
21:6そしてサラは言った、「神はわたしを笑わせてくださった。聞く者は皆わたしのことで笑うでしょう」。	21:6 And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh. Every one that heareth will laugh with me.	ו וַתֹּאמֶר שָׂרָה--צְחֹק, עָשָׂה לִי אֱלֹהִים: כָּל-הַשֹּׁמֵעַ, יִצְחַק-לִי.
21:7また言った、「サラが子に乳を飲ませるだろうと、だれがアブラハムに言い得たであろう。それなのに、わたしは彼が年とってから、子を産んだ」。	21:7 And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should give children suck? For I have borne him a son in his old age.	ז וַתֹּאמֶר, מִי מִלֵּל לְאַבְרָהָם, הֵינִיקָה בָנִים, שָׂרָה: כִּי-יָלַדְתִּי בֵן, לִזְקֻנָיו.
21:8さて、おさなごは育って乳離れした。イサクが乳離れした日にアブラハムは盛んなふるまいを設けた。	21:8 And the child grew, and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.	ח וַיִּגְדַּל הַיֶּלֶד, וַיִּגָּמַל; וַיַּעַשׂ אַבְרָהָם מִשְׁתֶּה גָדוֹל, בְּיוֹם הִגָּמֵל אֶת-יִצְחָק.
21:9サラはエジプトの女ハガルのアブラハムに産んだ子が、自分の子イサクと遊ぶのを見て、	21:9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne unto Abraham, mocking.	ט וַתֵּרֶא שָׂרָה אֶת-בֶּן-הָגָר הַמִּצְרִית, אֲשֶׁר-יָלְדָה לְאַבְרָהָם--מְצַחֵק.
21:10アブラハムに言った、「このはしためとその子を追い出してください。このはしための子はわたしの子イサクと共に、世継となるべき者ではありません」。	21:10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this handmaid and her son. For the son of this handmaid shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.	י וַתֹּאמֶר, לְאַבְרָהָם, גָּרֵשׁ הָאָמָה הַזֹּאת, וְאֶת-בְּנָהּ: כִּי לֹא יִירַשׁ בֶּן-הָאָמָה הַזֹּאת, עִם-בְּנִי עִם-יִצְחָק.
21:11この事で、アブラハムはその子のために非常に心配した。	21:11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight on account of his son.	יא וַיֵּרַע הַדָּבָר מְאֹד, בְּעֵינֵי אַבְרָהָם, עַל, אוֹדֹת בְּנוֹ.
21:12神はアブラハムに言われた、「あのわらべのため、またあなたのはしためのために心配することはない。サラがあなたに言うことはすべて聞きいれなさい。イサクに生れる者が、あなたの子孫と唱えられるからです。	21:12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy handmaid. In all that Sarah saith unto thee, hearken unto her voice. For in Isaac shall thy seed be called.	יב וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים אֶל-אַבְרָהָם, אַל-יֵרַע בְּעֵינֶיךָ עַל-הַנַּעַר וְעַל-אֲמָתֶךָ--כֹּל אֲשֶׁר תֹּאמַר אֵלֶיךָ שָׂרָה, שְׁמַע בְּקֹלָהּ: כִּי בְיִצְחָק, יִקָּרֵא לְךָ זָרַע.
21:13しかし、はしための子もあなたの子ですから、これをも、一つの国民とします」。	21:13 And also of the son of the handmaid will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.	יג וְגַם אֶת-בֶּן-הָאָמָה, לְגוֹי אֲשִׂימֶנּוּ: כִּי זַרְעֲךָ, הוּא.
21:14そこでアブラハムは明くる朝はやく起きて、パンと水の皮袋とを取り、ハガルに与えて、肩に負わせ、その子を連れて去らせた。ハガルは去ってベエルシバの荒野にさまよった。	21:14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and gave her the child, and sent her away. And she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.	יד וַיַּשְׁכֵּם אַבְרָהָם בַּבֹּקֶר וַיִּקַּח-לֶחֶם וְחֵמַת מַיִם וַיִּתֵּן אֶל-הָגָר שָׂם עַל-שִׁכְמָהּ, וְאֶת-הַיֶּלֶד--וַיְשַׁלְּחֶהָ; וַתֵּלֶךְ וַתֵּתַע, בְּמִדְבַּר בְּאֵר שָׁבַע.
21:15やがて皮袋の水が尽きたので、彼女はその子を木の下におき、	21:15 And the water in the bottle was spent, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.	טו וַיִּכְלוּ הַמַּיִם, מִן-הַחֵמֶת; וַתַּשְׁלֵךְ אֶת-הַיֶּלֶד, תַּחַת אַחַד הַשִּׂיחִם.
21:16「わたしはこの子の死ぬのを見るに忍びない」と言って、矢の届くほど離れて行き、子供の方に向いてすわった。彼女が子供の方に向いてすわったとき、子供は声をあげて泣いた。	21:16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot. For she said, Let me not look upon the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lifted up her voice, and wept.	טז וַתֵּלֶךְ וַתֵּשֶׁב לָהּ מִנֶּגֶד, הַרְחֵק כִּמְטַחֲוֵי קֶשֶׁת, כִּי אָמְרָה, אַל-אֶרְאֶה בְּמוֹת הַיָּלֶד; וַתֵּשֶׁב מִנֶּגֶד, וַתִּשָּׂא אֶת-קֹלָהּ וַתֵּבְךְּ.
21:17神はわらべの声を聞かれ、神の使は天からハガルを呼んで言った、「ハガルよ、どうしたのか。恐れてはいけない。神はあそこにいるわらべの声を聞かれた。	21:17 And God heard the voice of the lad. And the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? Fear not. For God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.	יז וַיִּשְׁמַע אֱלֹהִים, אֶת-קוֹל הַנַּעַר, וַיִּקְרָא מַלְאַךְ אֱלֹהִים אֶל-הָגָר מִן-הַשָּׁמַיִם, וַיֹּאמֶר לָהּ מַה-לָּךְ הָגָר; אַל-תִּירְאִי, כִּי-שָׁמַע אֱלֹהִים אֶל-קוֹל הַנַּעַר בַּאֲשֶׁר הוּא-שָׁם.
21:18立って行き、わらべを取り上げてあなたの手に抱きなさい。わたしは彼を大いなる国民とするであろう」。	21:18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thy hand. For I will make him a great nation.	יח קוּמִי שְׂאִי אֶת-הַנַּעַר, וְהַחֲזִיקִי אֶת-יָדֵךְ בּוֹ: כִּי-לְגוֹי גָּדוֹל, אֲשִׂימֶנּוּ.
21:19神がハガルの目を開かれたので、彼女は水の井戸のあるのを見た。彼女は行って皮袋に水を満たし、わらべに飲ませた。	21:19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.	יט וַיִּפְקַח אֱלֹהִים אֶת-עֵינֶיהָ, וַתֵּרֶא בְּאֵר מָיִם; וַתֵּלֶךְ וַתְּמַלֵּא אֶת-הַחֵמֶת, מַיִם, וַתַּשְׁקְ, אֶת-הַנָּעַר.
21:20神はわらべと共にいまし、わらべは成長した。彼は荒野に住んで弓を射る者となった。	21:20 And God was with the lad, and he grew. And he dwelt in the wilderness, and became, as he grew up, an archer.	כ וַיְהִי אֱלֹהִים אֶת-הַנַּעַר, וַיִּגְדָּל; וַיֵּשֶׁב, בַּמִּדְבָּר, וַיְהִי, רֹבֶה קַשָּׁת.
21:21彼はパランの荒野に住んだ。母は彼のためにエジプトの国から妻を迎えた。	21:21 And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran. And his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.	כא וַיֵּשֶׁב, בְּמִדְבַּר פָּארָן; וַתִּקַּח-לוֹ אִמּוֹ אִשָּׁה, מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם. {פ}
21:22そのころアビメレクとその軍勢の長ピコルはアブラハムに言った、「あなたが何事をなさっても、神はあなたと共におられる。	21:22 And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phicol the captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest.	כב וַיְהִי, בָּעֵת הַהִוא, וַיֹּאמֶר אֲבִימֶלֶךְ וּפִיכֹל שַׂר-צְבָאוֹ, אֶל-אַבְרָהָם לֵאמֹר: אֱלֹהִים עִמְּךָ, בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר-אַתָּה עֹשֶׂה.
21:23それゆえ、今ここでわたしをも、わたしの子をも、孫をも欺かないと、神をさしてわたしに誓ってください。わたしがあなたに親切にしたように、あなたもわたしと、このあなたの寄留の地とに、しなければなりません」。	21:23 Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son’s son. But according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.	כג וְעַתָּה, הִשָּׁבְעָה לִּי בֵאלֹהִים הֵנָּה, אִם-תִּשְׁקֹר לִי, וּלְנִינִי וּלְנֶכְדִּי; כַּחֶסֶד אֲשֶׁר-עָשִׂיתִי עִמְּךָ, תַּעֲשֶׂה עִמָּדִי, וְעִם-הָאָרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר-גַּרְתָּה בָּהּ.
21:24アブラハムは言った、「わたしは誓います」。	21:24 And Abraham said, I will swear.	כד וַיֹּאמֶר, אַבְרָהָם, אָנֹכִי, אִשָּׁבֵעַ.
21:25アブラハムはアビメレクの家来たちが、水の井戸を奪い取ったことについてアビメルクを責めた。	21:25 And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of the well of water, which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.	כה וְהוֹכִחַ אַבְרָהָם, אֶת-אֲבִימֶלֶךְ, עַל-אֹדוֹת בְּאֵר הַמַּיִם, אֲשֶׁר גָּזְלוּ עַבְדֵי אֲבִימֶלֶךְ.
21:26しかしアビメレクは言った、「だれがこの事をしたかわたしは知りません。あなたもわたしに告げたことはなく、わたしもきょうまで聞きませんでした」。	21:26 And Abimelech said, I know not who hath done this thing. Neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it, but to-day.	ו וַיֹּאמֶר אֲבִימֶלֶךְ--לֹא יָדַעְתִּי, מִי עָשָׂה אֶת-הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה; וְגַם-אַתָּה לֹא-הִגַּדְתָּ לִּי, וְגַם אָנֹכִי לֹא שָׁמַעְתִּי--בִּלְתִּי הַיּוֹם.
21:27そこでアブラハムは羊と牛とを取ってアビメレクに与え、ふたりは契約を結んだ。	21:27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech. And they two made a covenant.	כז וַיִּקַּח אַבְרָהָם צֹאן וּבָקָר, וַיִּתֵּן לַאֲבִימֶלֶךְ; וַיִּכְרְתוּ שְׁנֵיהֶם, בְּרִית.
21:28アブラハムが雌の小羊七頭を分けて置いたところ、	21:28 And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.	כח וַיַּצֵּב אַבְרָהָם, אֶת-שֶׁבַע כִּבְשֹׂת הַצֹּאן--לְבַדְּהֶן.
21:29アビメレクはアブラハムに言った、「あなたがこれらの雌の小羊七頭を分けて置いたのは、なんのためですか」。	21:29 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves?	כט וַיֹּאמֶר אֲבִימֶלֶךְ, אֶל-אַבְרָהָם: מָה הֵנָּה, שֶׁבַע כְּבָשֹׂת הָאֵלֶּה, אֲשֶׁר הִצַּבְתָּ, לְבַדָּנָה.
21:30アブラハムは言った、「あなたはわたしの手からこれらの雌の小羊七頭を受け取って、わたしがこの井戸を掘ったことの証拠としてください」。	21:30 And he said, These seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that it may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well.	ל וַיֹּאמֶר--כִּי אֶת-שֶׁבַע כְּבָשֹׂת, תִּקַּח מִיָּדִי: בַּעֲבוּר תִּהְיֶה-לִּי לְעֵדָה, כִּי חָפַרְתִּי אֶת-הַבְּאֵר הַזֹּאת.
21:31これによってその所をベエルシバと名づけた。彼らがふたりそこで誓いをしたからである。	21:31 Wherefore he called that place Beer-sheba. Because there they sware both of them.	לא עַל-כֵּן, קָרָא לַמָּקוֹם הַהוּא--בְּאֵר שָׁבַע: כִּי שָׁם נִשְׁבְּעוּ, שְׁנֵיהֶם.
21:32このように彼らはベエルシバで契約を結び、アビメレクとその軍勢の長ピコルは立ってペリシテの地に帰った。	21:32 So they made a covenant at Beer-sheba. And Abimelech rose up, and Phicol the captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.	לב וַיִּכְרְתוּ בְרִית, בִּבְאֵר שָׁבַע; וַיָּקָם אֲבִימֶלֶךְ, וּפִיכֹל שַׂר-צְבָאוֹ, וַיָּשֻׁבוּ, אֶל-אֶרֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּים.
21:33アブラハムはベエルシバに一本のぎょりゅうの木を植え、その所で永遠の神、主の名を呼んだ。	21:33 And Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of Jehovah, the Everlasting God.	לג וַיִּטַּע אֶשֶׁל, בִּבְאֵר שָׁבַע; וַיִּקְרָא-שָׁם--בְּשֵׁם יְהוָה, אֵל עוֹלָם.
21:34こうしてアブラハムは長い間ペリシテびとの地にとどまった。	21:34 And Abraham sojourned in the land of the Philistines many days.	לד וַיָּגָר אַבְרָהָם בְּאֶרֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּים, יָמִים רַבִּים. {פ}
